A note from Leah
My name is Leah. By day I'm a Design and Development Engineer at Boeing in Philadelphia, working on commercial aircraft and rotorcraft electrical systems. Alongside that I run LR Ventures, where the engineering and AI operations consulting lives, and I'm building ELLS, a high-performance outdoor brand rooted in my surfing and wilderness years. This page is the cross-domain work that doesn't fit on the consulting page.
§ 01 · Electrical and aerospace
At Boeing I work on the 777-9 and 777-8F unpressurized electrical systems, covering requirements, deviations, design changes, and current return network on the freighter, plus equipment design and installation on the Chinook CH-47 helicopter. Before Boeing I was at BAE Systems on Direct Drive Traction Motors and lithium-ion battery research, and at Siemens Smart Infrastructure where I walked plant sites doing HVAC optimization and corporate energy work. My degree is Industrial and Systems Engineering from Binghamton's Watson School, where I led the senior design team on a hydrogen fuel cell bicycle and fueling station with a $30,000 budget.

Aerospace electrical with a systems brain. Industrial engineering trains you to see processes and constraints first, which is how I approach both the electrical design work at Boeing and the operations consulting that grew out of it.

§ 02 · The brand
I taught surfing at Locals Surf School in New York for two summer seasons, running private and group lessons for kids and adults across a wide range of skill levels. Through the Tribe 12 Fellowship in Philadelphia I started developing a social impact project around surfing, ocean access, and environmental stewardship, and ELLS is where that work lives on the commercial side. The product line is in development now, with an early focus on gear and apparel for people who actually spend time in cold water and on rocky coasts.
